Money Power and Bourgeois Democracy

-R.D. Tyagi

Capitalist regimes in the world sing praises for democracy, as if the same is the highest political achievement of mankind, so sacrosanct that there cannot be an alternative for that.

The workings of bourgeois democracies, the world over, in the last more than one and a half century, have shown that how these democracies are subjected to itself by the power of money and how it becomes an instrument to advance the interests of Capitalists.

Democracy becomes meaningless, under Capitalism, so far as the multimillions of the working people all over the globe are concerned. The distinction between the valid and invalid, legal and illegal, ways and means, through which the big capitalist giants, subjugate these democracies to themselves, has been obliterated almost completely under the conditions of Imperialism.

How the big Capital influences not only the political establishment directly, but, in so many ways, the public opinion also, to pamper their interests, is clear from the following data of ‘Expenses’, the companies in US, the biggest claimant of democracy, have made in the first quarter of 2009, for lobbying to have the public policy of the government, bend in their favour:
